COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. – The Cottage Grove Elks Lodge held a car wash fundraiser on Sunday to raise money for their snack pack program, right before the school year starts to make sure kids returning to classes don’t go hungry.
“Snack pack is all the outlying schools in an area we provide lunches for all the kinds, through summer break everything,” Dwayne Bull, Exalted Ruler of the Cottage Grove Elks Lodge, said. “Several thousand dollars for us to do this, so we try and come up with any kind of way that we can do to help that program.”
It was a busy day on Aug. 31 for volunteers, as drivers sat in lines waiting to get a wash, volunteers said they washed up to 50 cars.
Organizers say the goal was to raise at least $500 for the snack pack program.
