A man has been charged with murder following the death of a 28-year-old dad.

Emergency services responded to reports of a stabbing on Gilmerton Drive, in Newton Heath , on Friday evening (August 29).

Kailem Reece Gibson tragically died the next morning.

A 35-year-old had been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with Mr Gibson's death.

In an update issued this morning (Monday), Greater Manchester Police confirmed he had since been charged.

Martin Alan Davies, of Gilmerton Drive, Newton Heath , has been charged with murder.

He has been remanded in custody ahead of an appearance in Manchester Magistrates' Court later today.
