WARREN Protests are scheduled for today in the Mahoning and Shenango Valleys to mark Labor Day and advocate for policies organizers say are beneficial to workers.

Demonstrators will gather at the Trumbull Courthouse Square in Warren from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. to protest what supporters describe as attacks on working people. A news release for the event states the rally will call for protecting and defending programs like Medicaid and Social Security, investing in public schools, and providing healthcare and housing for all.

The event, titled "Workers Over Billionaires," is a continuation of a nationwide movement that launched on May 1. Organizers note that a core principle of the event is a commitment to nonviolent action.
