When the two top administrators at Lawrence Technological University make comparisons to the fictional Star Trek Enterprise while introducing new technology coming to campus this fall, you know it will be unique.

Among several new additions on the Southfield campus will be new Holographic Information Stations. One is planned for each of the five colleges on campus.

The stations, created by Los Angeles-based Showcase Holograms, project a 6-foot tall interactive human image. They will assist with tours, campus information, directions and more.

LTU President Tarek Sobh saw the holographic stations at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January and was intrigued with the prospect of enhancing the technology experience on campus.
