PEORIA, Ill. (25 News) – Central Illinois will celebrate Labor Day on Monday with several parades in honor of the nation’s workforce.

However, the Peoria area’s festivities are breaking with tradition, in West Peoria this year.

The parade will begin at 11 a.m. at lower Laura Bradley Park, heading west along Farmington Road, and winding up at Raber Packing Co. in West Peoria. From noon until 4 p.m., Raber will host a family-friendly festival with food, music, face painting, bouncy houses and more for kids.

“Coming from a union background and having most of my board former union members, we are excited…and we have been known to put on a pretty good parade,” West Peoria Mayor James Dillon tells 25 News.
