SUMMERVILLE , S.C. − In a battle of two of the state’s top teams, it was South Florence who found a way to remain unbeaten Friday with a 22-21 overtime victory against Summerville.
With the game in OT, Bruins quarterback Messiah Jackson threw to JayAun Perkins on fourth down and Perkins was able to leap up and come down with the touchdown reception.
Afterwards, South made the call to decide the game one way or the other and lined up for the two-point conversion. Jackson rumbled his way into the end zone for the final score.
Jackson also scored both of SFHS’ regulation touchdowns on runs of 3 yards and 2 yards, respectively.
Amare Reaves had two big interceptions for the Bruins (2-0), who will host Northwestern next Friday at 7:05 p.m.
