(WFSB) - With Labor Day being a federal holiday, most government offices were closed; however, most businesses remained open.

Most grocery stores, such as Stop & Shop, Trader Joe’s, and Aldi were open for business. Depending on the branch, they could operate on different hours.

Many restaurants were also said to be open, but it was recommended to call ahead to make sure.

Meanwhile, courthouses and the Department of Motor Vehicles were closed.

Post Offices were also closed.

There was also no mail, FedEx, or UPS service on Monday.

Many banks were closed for the holiday as well.
