Monty and his brother, Phoenix, were surrendered to animal control when they were only four-and-a-half weeks old.

Kathleen C. Cailloux Humane Society of Kerrville (KCHS) , a shelter in Texas, welcomed the tiny pups.

The staff showered them with care, believing that the brothers would soon be adopted into homes of their own.

Although both were timid and unsure, Monty and Phoenix slowly adjusted to life behind the shelter walls.

They spent their early days playing on the grass, always dreaming of the freedom and affection of a family.

Monty Faces Heartbreak

Monty was the first to leave. He found a home while Phoenix remained at the shelter.

The sweet pup was thrilled to begin life with his family, convinced this was his happy ending.
