FORT VALLEY, Ga. — A 30-year-old man is dead after a shooting in a residential area of Fort Valley, according to Peach County Coroner Kerry Rooks.

Rooks says a shooting was called into 911 at around 7:44 p.m. Saturday night. He says it happened on Hinton Street, which is a residential area off Knoxville Street.

When officers arrived, they found 30-year-old Devonte McMillan shot, Rooks said.

He says McMillan was taken to Atrium Health Navicent in Macon where he received medical treatment, but McMillian would die from his injuries. He was pronounced dead at 3:19 a.m. on Sunday.

According to Rooks, McMillan was from Fort Valley.

An autopsy will take place this week at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's Crime Lab in Macon, Rooks said, but the official date of the autopsy has still no
