The Miami Dolphins on Monday received an encouraging update on the status of starting running back De'Von Achane .
After missing most of the preseason with a calf injury, head coach Mike McDaniel announced Achane was practicing Monday for the first time in three weeks and was on track to play in the season opener.
"If he doesn't have any setbacks, he'll be playing (Week 1)," McDaniel told ESPN's Marcel Louis-Jacques .
The update is a much-needed one for the Dolphins who already have a thin running back room going into Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts. Alexander Mattison is out for the season, and the team will also be without J aylen Wright for the near future.
McDaniel and the Dolphins know Achane is an integral part of their offense. Last season, he averaged 4.5
