SACRAMENTO, Calif. —
This Labor Day is likely to range in the triple digits for Northern California ahead of an expected cooldown that could lead to a notable drop in temperatures.
Meteorologist Kelly Curran said Monday's forecast high for downtown Sacramento is 102 degrees, a slight increase from the 101 degrees recorded Sunday. The average for this time of year is 91 degrees.
The KCRA 3 weather team is issuing an Impact Day for Monday because of how the heat could affect outdoor activities. Those sensitive to heat or who spend extended amounts of time outside could be susceptible to heat-related illnesses if not prepared for the weather. It is advised that people stay hydrated and walk their pets either earlier or later in the day to avoid peak heat hours.
