ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Law enforcement has made many arrests and citations on the roads since the Labor Day holiday period began on Thursday.

As of Monday at 6 a.m., the Georgia Department of Public Safety said authorities have responded to 385 distracted driving cases, 346 driving under the influence investigations, and 191 crashes. More than 572 people were issued seatbelt citations, 97 people were injured, and at least five people died in traffic-related incidents.

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources also reported 13 boating under the influence incidents over the holiday weekend.

2024’s Labor Day weekend saw more than 550 crashes with over 200 injuries.
