SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A handful of planned protests were scheduled to take place in different San Diego communities and neighboring cities over the Labor Day holiday.
The protests, titled "Workers Over Billionaires," were expected to happen in downtown San Diego, Mira Mesa, Rancho Bernardo and La Jolla as well as the cities of Carlsbad, Chula Vista and Escondido.
According to posted signage about the collaborative events, the protests were intended for people to stand in solidarity against the "billionaires" who "continue to wage a cruel war on working people."
"This Labor Day, we will continue to stand strong, fighting for public schools over private profits, healthcare over hedge funds, shared prosperity over corporate politics," a description for the event in Mira Mesa stated.
