NEWINGTON — Stormont County Fair organizers say it’s a great place to meet old friends, and to make new ones.

For Newington resident Laurie Sauve, the fair – where the population of the tiny village soars into the thousands for a few days – seemed like the perfect place for new beginnings, as she launched her small business, Family Jewels, with a booth set up as part of the vendor row .

“I just started it this week,” Sauve said of the display of items that included necklaces, bracelets and earrings. “(Early in the week) I decided to get a booth, and I was set up here on Friday.”

Sauve said she enjoyed seeing neighbours, friends and all the fair-goers who were checking out her offerings, saying, “it’s been good. . . it’s a starting point (for Family Jewels).”
