Sunderland have made a transfer deadline day move for a former Chelsea player to help replace Marc Guiu after he was recalled to Stamford Bridge.

At the start of August, Guiu was loaned to the Stadium of Light with Chelsea hoping the striker would get regular game time and continue his development.

The 19-year-old has been a late sub in Sunderland’s last two Premier League games and scored on his first start for the club as they were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Huddersfield.

However, just 26 days after he joined the Black Cats, Guiu has been recalled from his loan after Liam Delap suffered a nasty hamstring injury in Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Fulham on Saturday.
