Nottingham Forest head coach Nuno Espirito Santo

Prior to the opening game of the season, Nuno Espirito Santo made his thoughts on Nottingham Forest’s transfer business perfectly clear.

The slow pace of deals being done was a source of frustration for the Portuguese. He places a big emphasis on getting new arrivals in early, to give them an opportunity to bed in.

“We lost a very good opportunity to do things better,” Nuno said at the time. “What we have lost that’s not coming back to us, the chance of doing things better.”

It was a blunt assessment from the man at the helm. And also an unusually honest answer from someone usually so reserved in public.
