LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - One person has been charged after a 12-year-old girl was killed in a crash on the Gene Snyder early Monday morning.

Reports initially indicated that this was a single-vehicle crash. Police now say that two vehicles were involved. At approximately 2:30 a.m. Monday, officers responded to Gene Snyder Freeway at New Cut Road.

Investigators say that two cars were traveling north when the Dodge Durango hit the back of a Jeep Compass. The Durango crashed into a wooded area and the Jeep Compass rolled on its top before coming to stop. The female driver was ejected into the median. A baby seat was found under the Jeep with a child strapped inside. Both the adult female and the baby were transported to University Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
