MADISON – Preston Zachman intercepted a pair of passes in the fourth quarter to help the Wisconsin football team close out a 17-0 victory over Miami (Ohio) last week.
The Big Ten was paying attention.
On Monday, Sept. 1, the league named the Badgers ' free safety as the conference’s defensive player of the week. Zachman finished with two tackles, both solo, to go along with his interceptions as the Badgers held Miami to 117 total yards in the Aug. 28 victory that was played under the lights at Camp Randall Stadium .
Zachman intercepted the sixth and seventh passes of his career and became the first Badger to collect two interceptions in a game since cornerback Ricardo Hallman grabbed two in a win over Purdue on Sept. 22, 2023.
