The Willow Creek Fire burning near the Idaho-Wyoming border continues to be the dominant wildfire in the region, reaching 4,065 acres with 28 percent containment as of Sunday, while several smaller fires across East Idaho have reached full containment following recent rainfall, according to the U.S. Forest Service.
The Willow Creek Fire, which started Aug. 22, has 370 personnel assigned and remains active with potential for increased fire behavior as warmer, drier conditions are expected this week, officials said. The fire is burning south of Smoot, Wyoming, about 35 miles southeast of Soda Springs.
