GREENSBORO, N.C. — A Greensboro College professor known for his creativity, mentorship, and passion for theatre died in a car crash on Friday evening, leaving students, alumni, and colleagues heartbroken.

Greensboro police said 64-year-old William Perry Morgan was killed when his Ford Focus ran off the road around 5:28 p.m., hit a barrier, and crashed into a tree near the dead end of Pembroke Road and Chatham Drive. Investigators said impairment does not appear to be a factor in the crash.

Morgan, better known as Perry, directed the college’s Musical Theatre Program and was described by the school as “deeply loved and respected in the Greensboro College community and the theatre community at large.”
