Notre Dame's season-opener against Miami was all about CJ Carr.

That was partially inevitable. Carr is the program's highest-rated quarterback recruit in a decade and he was making his eagerly-anticipated starting debut. It was, too, partially by design. The Irish, despite having one of the best running back duos in the country, made Carr the star of the show, putting the ball in the air early and often, mostly with short, quick passes to get the young signal-caller in rhythm.

Beyond all of that, however, the game was about Carr because the redshirt freshman played well enough to make it so.
