(WKBN) -- A long-time resident of a local shelter has finally found a new home.

In July, First News introduced you to Nitro. He arrived at the Healthy Hearts and Paws Project in Warren in 2018 and has been waiting to be adopted for over 2,000 days.

On Monday, we learned the Seara family has welcomed him into their home. They say they adopted Nitro in late July and wanted to let people know he's now a member of their family.

It's another success story, as many other animals remain in shelter care, including at Healthy Hearts and Paws.
