WASHINGTON — A woman who once breached the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, is now speaking out against the U.S. Air Force's decision to grant full military funeral honors to Ashli Babbitt , the Air Force veteran fatally shot while storming a barricaded doorway during the insurrection.
Pam Hemphill, a 72-year-old grandmother from Idaho who served jail time for her role in the attack, called the move “a slap in the face” to those who died defending the Constitution.
“This felt like a deep pain—like a deep slap in the face to our whole nation, to our military members that have died protecting our Constitution,” Hemphill said in an interview. “She didn’t die for this country. She was not a victim. She was a volunteer. She had a choice that day.”
