Dave Hughes has jokingly declared he is “loving the attention” but admits he is still “real tender” after suffering five broken ribs and a punctured lung in the Legends Game last Thursday night.

The comedian finished the charity match in pain following several heavy hits, and after initially returning home he headed to hospital in the early hours of Friday morning and spent time in intensive care.

Hughes was discharged on Sunday but is still battling, saying he still needs help putting his socks on.

“Still having struggles talking, I just had an endone,” he told FOX FM on Monday morning.

“There’s only so much — I can’t go too deep into my lungs, there’s still a hole there.

“Would I swap? No. I don’t know. I am loving the attention, you know that. You know what I’m like.
