When big events like SDCC and, as this past weekend, D23 come around, fans have come to believe that any announcements using the relevant hashtag are guaranteed to be official. That goes for banners and artwork from the events, including logos, character reveals, and posters. This weekend’s D23 event ended up causing a few headaches for Marvel fans, though, as the “reveal” of an Avengers: Doomsday poster featuring some of the MCU’s finest standing against Doctor Doom on the verge of the MCU’s demise was highlighted to the world with a #D23 tag on X and other social media sites.
