Children's Fairyland in Oakland celebrated its 75th birthday on Monday with hundreds of visitors attending the theme park.
The Bay Area attraction is the oldest storybook theme park in the nation and has been an Oakland staple since the 1950s.
"It's just such a magical place for children to come and for families to have a nice day," said Julia Wolfe, an Oakland resident.
Fairyland's birthday bash started with a parade at the 19th Street BART station and ended at the park.
Families filled the park in birthday hats and costumes. Festivities included a live DJ performance, exploring favorite rides and activities.
Fairyland, which sees around 200,000 visitors each year, has survived a pandemic and crime trends that temporarily kept customers away. The park's CEO credits the community for
