LEXINGTON, Ky. — A senior at the University of Kentucky has been arrested in her infant’s death.
The Lexington Police Department arrested 21-year-old Laken Snelling on Sunday.
Snelling is charged with abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence and concealing the birth of an infant.
According to her arrest citation, officers responded to a home in the 400 block of Park Avenue around 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 27 after the baby was found unresponsive in a closet.
Police discovered infant’s body wrapped in a towel inside a black trash bag, the citation said.
The Fayette County Coroner's Office has not released the infant's cause of death, however police said Snelling was the child's mother.
