WEBSTER COUNTY, Mo. (KY3) - It’s been about 3 months since drivers in Webster County have had to take the long way around.

Flooding along the Niangua River on Route Y washed out the bridge. But repairs could be coming soon.

“You’ll never keep it from flooding. There’s no way to do that,” said Bob Shockley.

Heavy rains hit the area in June. Flash flooding washed out the concrete, sending most of the bridge downstream.

Shockely lives nearby and says that the closure has made a big impact.

“For probably about a month, UPS, FedEx, and Prime all came to our house and turned around because they needed to be across there. They all thought they could come through Black Horse,” he said.

He says the road is often used by drivers trying to avoid traffic back-ups on I-44.
