DENVER (KDVR) — This August went down in the record books as one of the wettest in Denver history after it rained for nearly a week straight, more than doubling the average rainfall for the month.
According to National Weather Service records, it rains an average of 1.58 inches in August, which would be about a handful of days, depending on how much it rained. However, after it rained for half the month, this August is now one of the wettest in history.
This August had nine days of measurable rainfall and five days of trace amounts. After a daily rain record that was previously set in 1944 and nearly a week of rain August became the third wettest in Denver history with 4.12 inches of rain.
