A woman injured in a shooting is receiving care after a passerby drove her to the hospital overnight in Philadelphia, police said.

According to the Philadelphia Police Department, around 11 p.m. on Sept. 1, officers responded to a local hospital after receiving reports of a "prior assault." When officers got to the hospital, they found that a woman had been dropped off by a private vehicle, suffering from gunshot wounds to her right forearm and right thigh.

Police said a preliminary investigation indicates that the woman was near the intersection of Frankford and Ontario Streets when she was struck.
