HONOLULU (Island News) – A Waikiki building fire was deemed as accidental after the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) extinguished the blaze on Saturday night.
At 10:59 p.m., HFD crews arrived at Ena Road to a mid-level apartment building where nothing was visible. However, building security confirmed flames on the penthouse level.
Firefighters responded to the penthouse level and initiated an aggressive fire attack and put the fire out at 11:06 p.m. and fully extinguished at 11:07 p.m.
The Honolulu Emergency Medical Services (EMS) reported that a man, believed to be in his 80s, was treated for burns and smoke inhalation. He was taken to a nearby hospital in serious condition.
Another man, believed to be in his 20s, was also seen by paramedics for possible smoke inhalation but he declined
