Graham Greene has sadly passed away.

The actor, born in Six Nations Reserve in Ontario, Canada and best known for his Oscar nominated role as Kicking Bird (Ziŋtká Nagwáka) in Dances With Wolves , died at 73.

Graham died after “a lengthy illness,” according to his agent Michael Greene , via People .

Graham earned himself a Best Supporting Actor nomination for the 1990 film, which went on win Best Picture among several other awards.

He’s also a Grammy winner, thanks to his work on Listen to the Storyteller , scoring him the win in 2000 for Best Spoken Word Album for Children.

He debuted in 1979 in an episode of Canadian drama series The Great Detective , while his first movie appearance was 1983′s Running Brave .
