Teen’s Need for Speed Ends with Jail Time After Clocking 112 MPH on US 27
WAVERLY, FL – A late-night traffic stop on Friday, August 29, led to the arrest of a Fort Myers teen after a deputy clocked his car going 112 mph in a 60 mph zone.
Deputy Giroux of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office was conducting traffic enforcement near US 27 and Peace Creek Road when he spotted a black Kia Forte approaching at an extremely high speed around 11:05 p.m.
Using his radar, Deputy Giroux confirmed the vehicle’s speed at 112 mph—a staggering 52 mph over the posted speed limit. According to the deputy, the car was also recklessly weaving through traffic.
