LINCOLN, Neb. (WOWT) - This day 25 years ago was the start of John Cook’s illustrious career at the University of Nebraska Lincoln.

Cook led the Huskers to a 3-0 sweep of the Northwestern Wildcats, the first of what would be a perfect 34-0 season.

It culminated in the second Volleyball National Championship in UNL’s history, and the first of four that Cook would win in his time in Lincoln.

Cook called it a career earlier this year , capping a historic 25 seasons, just like his mentor Tom Osbourne did in 1997.

In the crowded list of great Husker coaches, Cook’s name might very well be at the top!
