COARSEGOLD, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Coarsegold woman is sharing the wild sighting that had her young dog on alert.

ABC30 Insider Gina O'Reilly says she woke up to a bear cub strolling through her property in Indian Lakes.

She says her 10-month-old chocolate lab had a stare-down with the bear.

The bear then walked from her backyard to the front, standing right next to a wooden bear statue at one point, and eventually got out through the fence.

If you encounter a bear, state wildlife officials say to stay away or make yourself appear large by waving your arms, yelling and making a loud noise.

They say to never run.
