CHICO, Calif. - The Powerball jackpot has soared to $1.1 billion for tonight's drawing, capturing the attention of hopeful ticket buyers.

With no winners since May, the jackpot has surpassed $1 billion, leading many in the local community to try their luck at winning the jackpot.

"It's going to be good for somebody," said Keshav Pabbi, an employee at Star Liquors.

Rose Consiglieri-Morrissey purchased her Powerball ticket for Monday's drawing at Star Liquors in Chico.

"Just came down to the Star Liquors to buy my magical lottery ticket. My siblings called me from the Bay Area to say get to the store and buy your ticket, so here I am," said Consiglieri-Morrissey.
