An Air Canada flight headed to Toronto was forced to return to Denver International Airport on Sunday morning due to a possible electrical fire.
The airline confirmed in a statement that emergency slides were deployed after Flight 1038, operated by an Airbus A220, “returned to Denver shortly after takeoff due to a reported acrid smell in a galley area.”
Air Canada said the aircraft landed safely around 8:15 a.m. and the 117 passengers and five crew members “evacuated the aircraft using the emergency slides as a precaution.”
Video shared on social media shows passengers exiting the plane on the slides, some being assisted by emergency crews.
One passenger suffered minor injuries during the evacuation process, the airline said.
