A new Allegheny County charter school is not opening this school year as originally planned, school officials have announced.

Dominus High School: The Charter School for Entrepreneurs, originally slated to open this fall, will now open in the 2026-27 school year. The decision followed construction delays at the school’s building, which is within the Penn Hills and Woodland Hills school districts, and a failed attempt to gain approval to start the 2025-26 school year virtually.

“This is a delay, not the end,” a school statement reads. “Pittsburgh is a city built on resilience, and so is our community.”
