An armed man threatening to harm himself led to a nearly two-hour standoff Monday evening in Emmaus , police said.

Borough Police Chief Jason B. Apgar told lehighvalleylive.com the incident unfolded just before 5:50 p.m. in the 600 block of Furnace Street.

Emmaus police were assisted by Salisbury Township police; the Lehigh County Emergency Response Team; Lehigh County Special Operations unit; and Lehigh County Crisis team in negotiating with the man.

After approximately an hour and a half, the chief said the man was brought into custody. There were no reported injuries.

Apgar referred questions to the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office, where spokeswoman Pamela Lehman said there would be no further comment at this time.
