Mayors from the Twin Cities area are calling for lawmakers to change a state law that prohibits cities from passing their own gun reforms.

The call to action comes less than a week after the mass shooting at a Minneapolis church that killed two children and injured 21 others.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter and Brooklyn Park Mayor Hollies Winston say they will all support a statewide ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.
