A South Carolina man is in custody after he was accused of assaulting a woman who was holding their young child following an argument, according to deputies.

Around 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 12, deputies with the Richland County Sheriff's Department responded to a report of domestic violence in the 200 block of Glenn Village Cir.

The victim told deputies that while she was holding their child, Thornwell threw a glass of water at her and struck her in the back of the head.
