Britons are being urged to prepare for hours of relentless downpour and possibly assemble an "emergency" kit as the Met Office issues a yellow weather warning encompassing 31 regions. ‌

The caution is in effect from midnight until 2pm on Wednesday , with meteorologists alerting that flooding, travel chaos and potential power outages could hit the South West and parts of Wales. ‌
