NINEVEH, Ind. -- In Johnson County, community members are becoming concerned with a pretty big tax increase proposed to pay for a new firehouse.

The Nineveh Township Volunteer Fire Department held a public meeting to discuss a new firehouse this past Thursday.

“There are a lot of retired people in this area, and they absolutely cannot afford to stay in their homes if this would go through as such,” said one resident.

FOX59/CBS4's Claire Curry spoke with one anonymous resident about how the Nineveh Fire Protection District hopes to pay for the proposed 16,000 square foot building.

”I think our biggest concern in the community is how it's going to affect our property taxes,” the resident said.
