LANE COUNTY Ore. (KPTV) - The Oregon State police are looking for a hit-and-run suspect.
On August 31, 2025, at 5:59 a.m., Oregon State Police responded to a crash on Highway 126, at the intersection with Huston Road, in Lane County.
The preliminary investigation indicated a pedestrian, Dakota Blue Gilbert, 22, of Veneta, entered the roadway and was hit by an eastbound SUV.
Gilbert was declared dead at the scene.
The SUV driver did not stop at the scene and has not been identified. Investigators are seeking public help to find the suspect vehicle and driver. The SUV is believed to be a light colored 2010-2013 Chevrolet Equinox. It likely has front end damage, possibly lower to the ground, and is likely operable.
