PEKIN, Ill. – A man has been arrested for murder after a fatal stabbing in Pekin on Tuesday.

Pekin Police says officers and medical personnel responded to the area of South 14th and Hazel, arriving to find a female victim in need of medical attention.

Police say the victim was taken to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

The victim’s identity will be released by the Peoria County Coroner’s Office.

Pekin Police says 93-year-old James Pate was arrested for First Degree Murder after an investigation.

Illinois State Police assisted with the investigation.
