The Boston Bruins missed the playoffs for the first time in nine years following the 2024-25 season.
Now, their biggest star is speaking out on last year’s struggles.
“Expectations are always the same here. You play for an Original Six, they are always high and they always will be … we won’t accept what happened last year. The team that’s going to dress in October is going to be very competitive,” All-Star right-wing David Pastrnak said following Tuesday’s Captains Practice.
The Bruins’ 2024-25 campaign was not only the first time they’ve failed to qualify for the postseason since 2015-16, but their .463 points percentage was their worst since 2006-07. Boston finished the year 33-39-10 with 76 points and named former forward Marco Sturm head coach in June.
