IRMO, S.C. — The Town of Irmo is once again debating growth along Lake Murray as the developer of the Water Walk project seeks to expand the mixed-use development across Highway 6.

The Water Walk development was approved in 2023 with plans for 462 residential units and 90,000 square feet of commercial space on 65 acres near Salem Church Road. The design includes duplexes, townhouses, senior living, and retail, with wetlands and green space incorporated into the site plan.

Now, the developer has requested annexation of an additional 22 acres across the street. That request will be discussed at Tuesday’s Irmo Town Council work session.

Neighbors voice traffic concerns
