Britain is a nation of “jacket potato fanatics” - with nearly a quarter of us rowing with family and friends over how to prepare the treat. Some 94% of people quizzed admit to eating a baked spud once a week, with the average Brit devouring 140 annually and more than 8,000 in a lifetime. ‌

And 21% have secretly judged someone based on their choice of topping or filling. Sandwich chain Subway, which carried out the research, is now offering customers the option to turn any Sub into a Spud with any topping. ‌
