The 6-5 Fire in Tuolumne County has grown to nearly 3,000 acres and forced widespread evacuation orders and warnings near the community of Chinese Camp, according to Cal Fire. The fire began late Tuesday morning and is part of the September Lightning Complex, which includes nine wildfires. Evacuation orders cover major roads, neighborhoods in Chinese Camp, and areas near Highway 120 and Don Pedro Dam Road. Warnings remain in place for Shawmut Road and other nearby areas as crews work to contain the fire.
