The Broncos on Tuesday released cornerback Quinton Newsome from the practice squad.

That leaves the Broncos with 16 players on the squad, but they are allowed to have 17, one over the limit due to having international player Patrick Murtagh, a tight end born in Australia.

It remains to be seen what Denver will do with the open spot.

Newsome spent last season as a rookie on the Broncos' practice squad and signed a futures deal with the team last January. He was waived by the Broncos on Aug. 26 and signed to their practice squad the next day.
